Queer family with a family business: Velocitoddler. My blog takes the backseat to my unisex/gender neutral kids clothing line, but it’s important to write when words are congesting my spirit. My partner and I are raising our kids in a country with rapidly shifting gender dynamics. I am an actor, artist and seamster; she is a biomedical engineer.
 

Moving to a Webshop

The short story is, that seeing shattered glass for the third time since our lease started broke me, too. There's a much longer story in here about the daily transients who would wander in, some of them aggressive, some of them refusing to leave, some trying to grab items on the way out, all of them requiring that my toddler go hide quietly in the back of the store.

Gun Violence.

Some days, I think maybe I want her to go to a regular school. Other days, like today, I don't want her in school until she's in college. Our cultural treatment of adolescent males coupled with ease of weapons accessibility is going to continue to combust into mass shootings until gun reform happens. That might not ever happen.
